Cancelling prom for the entire school to avoid doing the right thing because it would make you uncomfortable to have a same-sex couple in attendance? Way to be ignorant hicks, Mississippi.
I’m stunned to hear they even have a policy banning same-sex couples. In the three times I went to Prom, I’m pretty sure Courtney was my “date” once, and Rebekah was my “date” twice… simply because couples tickets were cheaper. I don’t think anyone thought we were lesbians, and even if they did, or we were, it wouldn’t be any of their business! If I had children, gay or straight, who went to a school that was this discriminatory, I wouldn’t wait for the school to cancel Prom, I’d encourage them to boycott it! And I have to say, a tux would probably be much more comfortable than a poofy dress anyhow! If Diane Keaton can wear one on the red carpet, who cares if some girl in Mississippi wants to wear one to Prom?
